How I Hire Mentors: Then + Now
HOW I HIRED MENTORS IN THE BEGINNING OF MY BUSINESS:
> “I just need you to teach me funnels and Facebook ads.”
> “I want you to help me scale to $20k months. Can you help me do that?”
> “Are you going to be there for feedback on my Facebook posts?”
> “What are your income results?”
> “Are they spending enough time trying to convince me to work with them?”
> “Can I get a discount or a payment plan?”
> I would ghost them and I would spend DAYS deciding if I should work with them without letting them know why - doubting myself/my gut instincts.
This was fueled by two core, fear-based beliefs:
1. That knowing the almighty “how” would get me results and that I would finally feel happy and worthy of success.
2. That my results came from other people’s skills and them teaching those skills to me.
HOW I HIRE MENTORS NOW?
(Currently have TWO!)
> I pay in full and right away.
> I never ask for discounts - I’d never want one.
> I never get on sales calls when I hire someone.. I probably wouldn’t hire someone who does sales calls cause that’s not how I want to run my business.
> I don’t have objections. If I do, I know they’re objections of my own fears and BS. If it’s the right mentor, I respect them enough to work through my BS objections and fears on my own. I would never waste someone’s time with objections that I knew were really about ME.
> I never enter into a sales conversation with a mentor I do not intend to hire, because I would personally not want my time wasted by someone who does not intend to buy. I only work with people who know I’m their person and sign themselves up.
> I NEVER (99.9% of the time) ask my mentors for technical business advice. Because the reason I became successful was all MENTAL/INNER WORK.. not because I asked a single damn business question. Inner work IS BUSINESS WORK.
> I trust my mentors fully. If I don’t, I leave them.
> I celebrate and NAME my mentors when people ask, because I do not have a scarcity mindset around that and I know that my perfect clients are not people who try to hide their coach. They are confident and empowered in their own skills as a coach that they would never be insecure enough to do that.
> Always, always, always - based on emotion, gut, and intuition. Always. Never logic.
Ultimately.. I hire people based on whether or not they can help me live my life at the next LEVEL (which includes all things money/biz.. but also life, relationships, sex, happiness, etc.).
I hire people who can help me discover and uncover my truest self. Who can help me find my own answers.
I don't hire people expecting them to do things for me or get things for me. That's literally impossible and a surefire way to get zero results. And I sure as fuck wouldn’t want anyone else’s answers because I know those would never work for me. Only my own work for me.
It’s how I’ve scaled my business to around $50-$60k a month in 6 months, on average.. it’s how I’ve been learning to live my life with more happiness, joy, and fulfillment.
I CONSCIOUSLY CHOOSE EVERY DAY TO BE THE KIND OF CLIENT THAT I MYSELF WANT TO HAVE.
So if you're being honest with yourself.. are you actually acting as (and attracting) your ideal kind of client?
time to step the fuck up.
You don't get to have those kinds of clients
without being that kind of person.
